Program: Environmental Health
Goal:
The goal of the environmental Health officer is to monitor and provide quality assurance in environmental practices and procedures.
Objective:
The objective of the Environment Health Officer is to provide professional supervision and advice to the community regards to environmental program and practices.
Focus:
The EHO will provide the following activities in the environmental program:
- Collection and submission to lab of routine water samples for bacteriological and chemical determinations;
- Assist in implementation of corrective action stemming from poor water results.
- Reporting potential environmental health hazards to the Health program.
- Assist in inspections of community sewage treatment, water treatment and solid waste disposal facilities.
- Assist in conducting housing inspections.
- Assist in inspecting public facilities such as schools, personal care homes, day cares, and recreational areas.
- Assist in conduction investigations on environmental contaminants such as oil spills.
- Assist the EHO in conducting investigations, surveys and special projects, which are of concern to the general public health and well being of the community.
- Assist community to address potential environmental problems and implement community plans to meet environmental needs.
- Provide adequate training to the community in environmental health issues.
- Promote community awareness on environmental issues and concerns.
