Water Monitoring
Goal:
The goal of the T.A. Health Program's Water Monitoring Program is to protect and enhance public health and safety, and the quality of life for all persons by ensuring the public drinking water is safe to drink.
Objective:
The objective of the T.A. Health Program is to administer the Water Monitoring Program on the Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve under delegation of authority from the Chief and Council. By delegating, the authority to the T.A. Health Program will ensure the Water Monitoring Program is designed to ensure a safe and healthy supply of consumable water is available to drink and use in the households of the Tootinaowaziibeeng Reserve.
Focus:
The delivery of the community –based water-monitoring program has very specific guidelines and procedures that must be followed, points include:
- Monitor for bacterial and/or chemical contamination according to the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality; and
- Disseminate and Communicate drinking water results in a reasonable time frame to the Environmental Health Officer providing service to the community and/or the Regional Environmental Officer (if applicable), as outlined during training; and
- If tests show unacceptable bacteriological contamination, the Recipient shall report the results to the Environmental Health Officer within 24 hours.
